Position: Digital Artist - Matte Painter, Gold Coast starting Jan 8 for 5 weeks.
Photon VFX is an independent Australian VFX company specialising in visual effects and animation for feature film and television production. Photon is currently seeking experienced Matte Painters to join our team for a short contract. Longer contracts can be discussed.

What we are looking for
• Working closely with the project director, compositors and other matte painters you will be able to create foreground mid-ground and background matte paintings of a near photo realistic quality.
• Expert knowledge of Photoshop.
• Ability to utilise of a wide variety of media sources in order to create style frames and digital comps.
• Some experience with 3d (maya) modelling is desirable but not necessary.
• Traditional painting experience preferable. We love seeing traditional work.

All candidates for Photon must have excellent communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively on deadline driven projects.

INTERNATIONAL – REEL SHORTS NEW YORK CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Saratoga County Arts Council invites artists and filmmakers to submit their work for inclusion in Reel Shorts, an exhibition program for film and video art at The Arts Centre in Saratoga Springs, NY. Selected works will be transferred to a single DVD and presented as an on-going exhibit on a flat-panel monitor in newly renovated space at The Arts Centre in Saratoga Springs.

Submissions must be on DVD, under 12 minutes including titles, and may be in the categories of documentary, fiction, animation or art video/film. Work should be in NTSC format. Before sending your computer-burned DVD, please test it on a stand-alone DVD player, as this is how it will be viewed by the selection committee. This is an on-going, open call.

To have work considered for the January-March 2007 exhibition, submit by December 7, 2006. You may submit up to three individual works (on one or multiple discs). Include with your submission statement about the work, its running time, an artist’s bio, and CV or film company credits, and, if you’d like the work returned, a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Single Reel film and video festival is dedicated to creating outlets for emerging independent filmmakers, animators, and artists to show their work.

Single Reel was established in order to foster opportunities for connecting independent filmmakers to each other and audiences. LEONARDO ELECTRONIC ALMANAC – CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUES FOR 07/08

LEA is an international peer-reviewed e-journal published by MIT Press
since 1993. Proposals sought are;

* Special Issues: To guest edit a special issue/s around any
established or emerging topic area. The special will give you an
opportunity to work with LEA, its peer-review network and experts in
the field to publish critical essays, artist statements, produce
bibliographies and academic curriculum.

* Theoretical Discussions: *Original* essays documenting research,
critical commentary in areas of discussion such as nanotechnology,
cyberart, cyberfeminism, hypertext, robotics, bio-art, artifical life,
genetics. This list is by no means exhaustive, and proposals need not
be limited to these areas.

* Artists Statements / Gallery Commissions: International artists are
encouraged to submit statements or proposals for *original* for
exhibiting new media artwork. Curators are welcome to propose thematic
exhibitions.

LEA encourages international artists / academics / researchers /
students / practitioners / theorists to submit their proposals for
consideration. We particularly encourage authors outside North America
and Europe to submit essays / artists statements.

1. Primary Purpose:
