STILL/OPEN: ANAT MEDIA LAB 2007

Lab and online opportunity announced
ANAT’s Still/Open Media Lab 07 will focus on the practice and theory of open
source approaches in the fields of networked art, software development,
science, print and online publishing.

The lab will run throughout September as a series of workshops and forums in
three locations across Australia. Applications to participate in the lab
will be called for in June.

An opportunity exists to present artwork that embraces open source ideology
to be hosted by the Still/Open website. The Still/Open Website is being
developed to profile the program and participants. The project will have an
ongoing life as an open source community resource.

Submit your idea in no more than one typed page, including a short
description of the proposed work and brief biography of your own art
practice with links to previous online works if available. Your work will
need to be ready to go online with the launch of the website at the
beginning of June.

Triple J Pixel Freaks

Triple J invites people to make a 30-second visual representation of Triple
J for the Pixel Freaks competition. It can be live action, animation, CGI or
anything visual. It just has to say something about Triple J and it must
consist of 100% non-copyright visual material. Prizes are a state-of-the-art
17" laptop , a hi-def video camera and a mobile video phone.

Entries by 19 February. The Festival will be held in Sydney 8 -24 June.

Entries to the 54th Sydney Film Festival are open to productions that meet
the following criteria: completed since 1 January 2006; available for
exhibition on 35mm, Digital Betacam or Beta SP; international productions of
all lengths and Australian productions over 30 minutes must be New South
Wales premieres and Australian productions under 30 minutes in length must
be Sydney premieres.

Job: Short term contract Maya Modelers - Sydney

We require 2 experienced 3d modelers for around 4-5 months. Applicants
must be proficient in Maya and have at least 3 years professional
experience creating detailed models for film or TV. The work will be
modeling a variety of scenery for an animated project.

Job: DVD Authoring / Video Editing - Melbourne

DVD author/Video Editor

Salary: $30,000 p/a

Key responsibilities include;
-Transferring & converting video formats
-Capturing video
-Editing footage; using Premiere Pro
-DVD encoding; using Cinema Craft Encoder
-Design and animation for DVD menus; using Adobe Photoshop & After Effects
-DVD authoring; using Adobe Encore
-Mastering DVD for replication to DDP
-Reviewing new titles, writing edit notes & movie summaries.

Formal qualifications required;
Qualifications in a DVD/video/multimedia related field (e.g. Advanced Diploma in Vision, Certificate in TV/Video Production)

Experience required;
At least one years experience in a DVD authoring, video editing or multimedia related field. Experience using Sony video production equipment for transferring and format changing; working on the PC using Adobe programs for editing and authoring, including; Premiere Pro, Photoshop CS, After Effects, and Encore; basic knowledge of encoding software Cinema Craft Encoder, Nero, Gear and Microsoft Word and Excel would also be advantageous.
