Aust - Second Life Artist Residency

The Australia Council for the Arts is offering up to $20,000 for a
collaborative artist residency in the virtual world of Second Life. The
aim of the residency is to offer Australian artists and writers the
opportunity to creatively and critically explore new interactive, virtual
platforms.
The residency allows for a collaborative team of up to three people
(including a writer, musician/sound artist and digital visual media
practitioner) to develop inter-disciplinary artwork in Second Life.

VIC - Horse Bazaar Prize, Melbourne
Over $2000 in cash plus other prizes. The Horse Bazaar Prize for panoramic
content is an open digital art prize for the production of screen-based
content that best uses Horse Bazaar’s unique panoramic projection system.
The screens are custom-built for the environment and extend for nearly 20
metres around the bar. Casting aside the traditional 4:3 screen format,
Horse Bazaar invites visual artists to produce digital content at an 8:1
ratio. The Horse Bazaar Prize is the world’s richest prize for panoramic
content and aims to cultivate the appreciation and production of panoramic
virtual décor.

gala and award night that will take place on Saturday 21st July

Aust - ABC Online's POOOL Project for digital artists

2008
Submissions are invited from regionally based artists to be
part of POOOL, an ABC online initiative for digital artists. POOOL is
seeking 'Digital Artbites' from rural and regional artists reflecting
developments and explorations in new media arts. Contributions can be from
individuals, collaborations or artist collectives of any age, and can
include digital stills, mobile art, animations, music, documentaries,
audio, text and video art, etc. Each contribution can be complete or
excerpted works of up to a maximum of 5 minutes duration. Your submission
does not have to be especially created for the POOOL project, it can be
something you made 1-2 years ago. There is no fee for artists publishing
on POOOL. All works will be published on a 'rolling basis' between 1 July
2007 and 1 July 2008.

Aust - 2007 Synapse Art and science residencies call for proposals

ANAT is pleased to announce the call for proposals from Australian media
artists and science organisations to participate in the 2007 Synapse Art and
Science Residency program. The residencies are available to Australian
artists with experience in media arts practice and an interest in science.
Artists from all technologically mediated disciplines are welcome to
apply.

Residencies can be undertaken at either an Australian or overseas science
organisation for a period of 12 or 16 weeks, depending on the location. ANAT
will provide an artist’s fee, accommodation, a living away allowance and
return travel to the destination of the residency if required. It is
anticipated the host organisation will provide access to personnel,
equipment, space and resources, as well as contributing towards materials
and/or the cost of mounting an exhibition at the conclusion of the residency.

International - Antimatter Underground Film Festival, Canada

Tenth annual international festival seeks imaginative, volatile,
entertaining and critical films and videos. Dedicated to the exhibition
and nurturing of film and video as art, Antimatter is the premier showcase
of experimental cinema in the west, encompassing screenings,
installations, performances and media hybrids.

Criteria: Independent productions, completed after Jan 1/05. Any style or
genre. Max 30 mins.
Formats: 16mm, Super 8, MiniDV, DVD, VHS.

International - CologneOFF III

The 3rd edition of Cologne Online Film Festival will have the theme: Toon!
Toon! - art cartoons and animated narratives. After the successful launch
of CologneOFF - Cologne Online Film Festival and the organisation of the
first two editions in 2006 (CologneOFF I – Identityscapes and CologneOFF
II - Image vs Music) VideoChannel is preparing edition III of CologneOFF
to be launched in October 2007. VideoChannel invites artists and
directors to submit animated films/videos that tell a story in the form of
a cartoon or other forms of narratives by using the new digital
technologies.

International - Project Ability (UK)


Project Ability in Glasgow is inviting artists from all over the world to
submit artwork (in any medium) that reflects their ideas and feelings on
mental health, either from a perspective of wellbeing or of illness. The
exhibition, titled ‘Mental Image', will be launched during Mental Health
Week in October 2007. Selected works will be exhibited in Project
Ability's two galleries from the 4 October until 23 November. More details
