Free screenings

The following anime films are screening FREE!! Saturday nights on the big screen over the next couple of months. Sure you may have seen a number on DVD already, but for the sheer thrill of watching something at Fed Square that's not sport you've gotsta be there.

From 10pm, Akira (1987, 124min, rated M). Following directly after the 2nd Annual Freestyle @ Fed Square Hip Hop Jam. Greedy politicians, guerrilla activists, corrupt scientists, military despots, telekinetic humans and motorcycle gangs collide in a post-apocalyptic Neo-Tokyo, 2019. The one that started it all.

From 11pm, Read or Die (2001, 90min, rated M). Literally. A young agent of the “Special Operations Division” of the British Library (the force behind the British Empire) must use her psychic power over paper to stop a plot to use the clones of major historical figures to destroy the world.

A showcase of some of Australia’s finest new photography, design, fashion, animation, film, and visual art graduates from universities and institutions around the country on the big screen and the atrium screen weeknights 29 January – 11 March.

There will be special screenings of animation films at 7:30pm and experimental film and video art at 9:30pm on the following bolded dates*:
